Wow it’s been a long time!!

Wow I hadn’t realized how long it had been since I posted-after leaving my last position in the industry-I really hadn’t felt the need to create anything scrapbook or papercraft related.

I wanted to create a little album to use all my extra photos and instagram pictures. I colored the canvas letters with Zig Art and Graphic Twin Mid Green and colored the flower with Peach Pink. The flower already had the resist done so I simple colored it and then used a baby wipe to bring out the white.

Products used: Simple Stories Vintage Bliss papers, assorted buttons, chipboard and canvas letters.

I can Doodle too?

I almost always have several art journals going at any given time-although I never really considered them as art as they were just where I let my mind wander without having to be perfect and pristine.  I have a formal background in art and then switched to graphic design so its hard for me to look at this as all I see are the pencil lines that I forgot to erase and there is no shading or light source.  But this was something that I just did without over thinking it.  I watched several videos that my friend Susan did and it was really interesting for me to watch how another person’s creative process worked.

Pens are all from Kuretake-several of them are not available in the US as Kuretake produces many art/calligraphy pens that are sold in Japan and Asia only.  I started out with a black zig writer and a millenium pen but they weren’t giving me the look I wanted and they aren’t meant to work on slick surfaces.  I switched to the artist sketching pen and Bimoji pen(the packaging is totally in Japanese so I have no idea what it says – LOL and this from someone who is half Japanese.  I love Japanese art products.)

Recently, I made some big changes on the path that my career in the art/papercrafting industry was headed.  I left a position that I really enjoyed for the last several years as I felt it was time to try something new totally on my own.  So wish me luck!

So many pens-so little time

Since I always use same black Zig writer pen by Kuretake-so I decided to try using something new. I had several of the Zig brushables so I used them to see what I could do that I hadn’t really done before. After seeing the Kuretake booth at the CHA show and the hundreds of products they manufacture-the wheels in my mind were just turning and turning.  I love pens and I just wanted to have one of each.  Can’t wait to see what’s next.
I created 2 totally different projects using the Pure Red and Spring Green pens.

On this card I used the Pure Red Brushable on a heart rubber stamp instead of using an ink pad.  I just scribbled on the color and stamped on some old book paper.

On this card-I used the Pure Red Brushable directly on the book paper.  I cut out a circle and made a spiral paper flower, but I colored in all the edges prior to rolling it up.  I used the Spring Green pen to freehand draw some leaves.

Stamping on Polymer Clay

I have been looking at all the ornaments done with various polymer and salt clays on Pinterest and I thought I would share mine.  One word of advice-make sure you use some type of clear ink-I used Versamark by Tsukineko and make sure you clean your stamps right away to remove the residue left by the clay.  Also, it is really hard to get a clean impression with super fine detailed stamps as the clay tends to stick in the corners.
